Renovating the Gum Store Building and property has been a labor of love for our founder, Penny Fioravante. She considers herself to be one very Lucky Penny to have family and friends who support and encourage her with her wild and sometimes crazy dreams.
An artist at heart, she talks like she is the Queen mother and is our own fearless Leader.
To help build the Gum Store Community, we formed a 501 c3 corporation LUCKY PENNY. EIN 84-5012850
We adopted “In Fun We Trust” as our motto because we do!
Lucky Penny's mission is to offer affordable housing, working studios, and gallery opportunities with the goal to create
welcoming spaces while fostering a community of friendship through inspiration, collaboration and healing.
We received our first grants from the Peyton Foundation and WV Culture & History for the installation of our Creekside mural, and donations from friends helped gussy up the building exterior & added parking spaces. Of course, our building is “historical”, so there is always something that needs upgraded or restored…electric systems, gutters, hvac etc…
We want to add a historical marker commemorating the schoolhouse that was originally on the property; an interactive Art Garden; more murals and public art; more community craft and wellness classes, pop up concerts on the lawn and artist in residency programs...
and whatever else is needed and sounds like fun!
We would love to show you around the property and share our dreams and schemes with you! Please text Penny 3043954031.
Should you want to make a donation,we would love that! Check out our fundraiser https://gofund.me/70d5830d
